Avatar (2010)Avatar is a good example of a modern Hollywood text.
Whilst we have looked at The Scorpion King as an introduction to modern Hollywood you will need to use a more modern example. You should be able to see the link between the ways that Scorpion King sought to maximise its revenue and audience and the ways that Avatar was turned into the movie event of the decade. To be successful in Section B of the exam you need to spend time learning the facts and figures behind films such as Avatar and be ready to use them to support your arguments. |

The King's Speech (2011)Here is the case study stuff for The King's Speech that we have gone over in lesson. You need to learn this information and be ready to use it - along with the information from your own case study - to respond to the Section B questions in the G322 exam.
You will notice that there are many points of difference between this film and your modern Hollywood examples and it is precisely these differences that you should be focusing on. Of course you can do further research on The King's Speech as the more information that you have the better your responses will be. |
How To Write A PointTake a look at the presentation here to get some idea of how to apply all of the information that we have covered in class in an effective Section B response.
This may look daunting but with plenty of practice you will be able to answer these questions quite easily. The real focus for this section is to know the facts and figures about your case study. You also need to know what the key terminology of the question means so make sure that you also revise this! |

Assignment 2Discuss the issues raised in the targeting of national and local audiences (specifically, British) by international and global institutions.
[50 Marks] The answer to this question is to be handed in on Wednesday 11th January. This is only 2 days before your exam so will be good revision.
